Oléron, the island for sandcastles and watersports!
To the west, facing the ocean, St. Trojan Chassiron Oléron Island has a unique suite of long sandy beaches. Depending on the tide and the wind, the beach can either a quiet and safe playground for children or the perfect spot for amateurs or experts to enjoy the waves--surfing, windsurfing, yachting, etc.
At the heart of the Island of Oléron and further south, the island is overtaken by the towering forests of pines, oaks and marram grass. Discover the ancient marshes now transformed as the famous oysters refinery "Marennes-Oléron." The marshes host a rich and varied flora and fauna. Through the Oléron heritage, we find strong rroman military and maritime presence.
You can wander and discover the island of Oléron by walking, riding a bike or horsebacking.
