Fouras les Bains



Fouras-les-Bains peninsula extends over 4 km. Located in the middle of the archipel of Ré, Oléron and Aix islands, it offers 5 sandy beaches and 3 harbors. This ancient village of fishermen turned to a very popular seaside town.

It has been one of the most importants resorts of the region since 1850. Nowadays it is one of the main touristical centers of Charente Maritime. It takes advantage of an gorgeous architectural patrimony, beautiful 19th and 20th centuries houses on the seaside side and in the wide wooden parc.

At the Fumée harbor, there are always boats for Aix island. You can eat mussels and oysters in one of the numerous restaurant with ocean view.

Fort Vauban’s museum reveals military and local history, local geology, and from its top you can admire a beautiful landscape over the coast and the islands.
